Conferred the Doctor of Music in Performance honoris causa from Musicians Institute in Hollywood in May of 2014, becoming the 5th recipient after Herbie Hancock, Steve Vai, Sheila E., Alice Cooper. Billy Sheehan was the 6th artist in 2015.
